We will be in southern France at the end of October and were thinking of driving to the Cinque Terra area. Does anyone have budget accommodation suggestions? We like off the beaten track ideas, inexpensive places to stay, and any advice about driving to Cinque Terra.

well first of all, you have to know that renting a car in France and leave it in Italy is very expensive. One solution is to take the train TGV) from Montpellier to Nice and then an italian train from Nice to Cinque Terre. One ineresting website is www.cinqeterre.it, for the train (italian section) try www.trenitalia.com, and the french section www.voyages-sncf.com

We are staying with someone in Montpellier, and there will be 3 of us travelling, that%26#39;s why we would be driving to and from Montpellier.

no problem. You can drive to Cinqe Terre in one day using the highway. And then, go to the cinqe terre web site, they have information about hotels ...

we will probably break up the road trip with some stops.. any ideas? The Cinque Terra in early Nov -- might be cold, but fewer tourists I guess!

well i cannot imagine such a journey in november, it is one of the most sad months of the year here, but if you insist, stay one night in Nice or Monte Carlo and another night in Genova, forget the small towns because it%26#39;s dead end in november ...
