Can you provide any info on these locations in menton

We are looking to rent a two-bedroom apt at Christmas time in Menton. So far have found availability at

i) Maison Picco, avenue Carnot

ii) Chateau Villaya, Avenue Katherine Mansfield

iii) Palais d%26#39;Azur (not sure where this is)

Are any of these locations more preferable? it appears that the one on avenue carnot is right in the center of shops, the Chateau Vallya is in the Garavan area and may be a little inacessible but have good views, and am not sure about the third which is apprently a very new development

any thoughts or recommendations by someone knowledgeable about Menton would be appreciated

A lifestyle choice!

Avenue Carnot is almost certainly the busiest main road in Menton. However it is one tiny block from the seafront (the part with Menton%26#39;s main beach), a shortish walk from the main shops and main train station, and not too far from the old town which is perhaps the pre-eminent tourist area.

Avenue KM does have great views over the sea and old town. It is near a quiet, fairly large but not particularly special park, and near to some of Menton%26#39;s most interesting C19 houses and gardens (though most of these have idiosyncratic and not very user-friendly opening times). It has excellent access to Garavan train station (at which the fastest trains do not stop), there are local buses along the seafront (though I don%26#39;t know how often), and it%26#39;s a shortish walk into Italy for the local bus along the upper coast road to Ventimiglia. Shops, bars etc not too many locally. The walk into Menton along the coast is not very far but is not spectacularly attractive, as much of the bay is dominated by the Marina and its facilities, and the palm-trees are only on the landward side of what is a wide divided highway (though with reasonable planting in the centre strip).

Hope this helps.
