Does anyone know a rental car company that is located in Paris where I can rent a car and pay by the day instead of by the week? I would drop off the car in Amsterdam.

I often rent cars by the day - try any of the big US firms, on their web sites (Hertz, Avis, etc.). They all have rental offices at the train stations in France, and at CDG, so they almost certainly are in Paris as well.

You never have to rent by week. All major rental companies allow you to rent by day(s). Note that international drop-off fees could be quite stiff.
You may look at Autoeurope as well, a well-reputed car rental broker that serves all major rental companies.

The problem for your rental will not be in renting for the day, it will be in taking out a mortgage to pay the international drop off fee. You%26#39;ll probably find that the Thalys fare from Paris to Amsterdam is much more affordable.
