The famous Le Train Bleu restaurant is at the Gare de Lyon, you could have a very extended lunch in fab surroundings!!

I have the feeling that you can get a Paris River Cruise from the Quai D%26#39;Austerlitz which is across the river from the Gare De Lyon (but I must admit I%26#39;m not 100% certain of this, so am doing a websearch to find out for certain) Other posters may know this for sure though.

I%26#39;d suggest borrowing a Rough Guide, or Lonely Planet guide from your local library, as they tend to discuss cities by %26#39;area%26#39; and may well have suggestions for places to visit close to the Gare de Lyon.

This map I found on the Frommer%26#39;s site, gives you a bit of an idea of what is close-ish to Gare de Lyon:

The Paris Tourism website also has an interactive map, which might give you some ideas:

I have found out that the Bato bus stops at the Jardin des Plantes, which is actually on the Quai St Bernard, opposite bank of the Seine to Gare de Lyon, but very close:

another option would be to take a ride on the No. 20 bus from Gare De Lyon to Gare St Lazare and back, could be quite scenic, and probably cheaper than the HoHo bus:

Afer taking No. 20 Bus, you could take the No. 24 bus returning from Gare St Lazare to the Jardin des Plantes, and get a different view of Paris on your way back!

Thank you EW for all your kind research, we know it takes up hours of your precious time.

IF we could be a*sed ourselves, we would do our own donkey work, but we have no gumption!

You are marvelous, fabulous, gorgeous, a total star and we will NEVER be able to repay your kindness,

With lots of love from Decis and family XXX

On one of our days in Paris last week we walked from the Sacre Ceour to Notre Dame passing Gare De Lyon. To reach GDL it took hardly any time so it must be fairly near. I would suggest a taxi to the Sacre Ceour and spending a lovely couple of hours in the Montmarte area - blissful!
