I don%26#39;t know if this is the right forum. But I am trying to figure out what half board means. I am looking at places in Caen actually. I am stumped.

One meal a day maybe?
Usually room + breakfast * evening meal.
Traditionally it%26#39;s bed, breakfast and evening meal. Some bigger hotels give you an option of lunch or dinner as part of your half board package. Smaller hotels and guest houses may not do lunch, so it would have to be the evening meal. This leaves you free to go where you wish in the daytime.

I think in American it used to be called Modified American Plan
It still is, with %26quot;American Plan%26quot; meaning all meals. Neither term is used very much, however, except at old-time resorts.
