You need to go to your bookstore and get a guide book, or better yet, go to the library and check out several, they are plentiful there, and read about the different districts. You can type a question in the search box like %26quot;best district%26quot; or %26quot;bistros%26quot; and threads will come up, spend some time reading, lots of info. to absorb. A travel agent (aren%26#39;t many left!) can help you get started.

I%26#39;m a fan of the 6th district on the Left Bank -- very charming, very colorful, and full of narrow streets and alleys, sidewalk cafes/bistros, and the %26quot;charm%26quot; of Paris. Specifically,I%26#39;d look for a hotel in the area bounded by the Seine River, Blvd St Germain, Rue Bonaparte, and Rue St Michel. Convenient to most everything, yet I suspect you%26#39;ll not want to leave the area.
