Hotel d'Angleterre to Palais des Papes

What is the most scenic/picturesque walking route from our hotel (29 Boulevard Raspail) to Palais des Papes? We%26#39;re short on time and won%26#39;t have time to wander aimlessly from street to street. We%26#39;ll be making the trip on Friday afternoon.

Thanks!

The staff at your hotel are the folks to ask this question - they will be well aware of the most picturesque routes and how they change month to month.

There is really only one logical way to reach the Palais from your hotel: (I believe your hotel is on the south side of B. Raspail) exit the hotel and turn right on Boulevard Raspail (east), left on Avenue de la République, continue walking straight ahead through the Place de l%26#39;Horloge where you will see a passageway between an old bank building and the Hotel des Papes. The Palais is just beyond the Place de l%26#39;Horloge taking this small passageway (actually called Place du Palais).

I suppose I was expecting a more, %26#39;you must go down such and such street to see these specific beautiful buildings..%26#39;.

Logically, I could just look to viamichelin for their recommended route but thought that someone would have experience with this walk or would have their favourite %26#39;must see%26#39; street along the way.

MyrtletheTurtle I have walked every inch of every street inside the old walls of Avignon and for someone who %26quot;won%26#39;t have time to wander aimlessly%26quot;, the route I described best fits your overall criteria. Even if you chose a parallel path, I do not think it will be more interesting than what I have suggested.

Thank you, Sarastro. Your route is direct and, since you%26#39;re recommending it based on personal experience, we look forward to following it.

We just stayed at the Angleterre and the walk to the Palais is straight forward. Facing the street (Raspail) as you leave the hotel turn right and walk to the main street (about 3 long blocks) turn left on the main street and you can%26#39;t miss it.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Milestogo. We%26#39;ll be in Avignon on Friday (woo hoo!!) and I wonder what the weather was like. Will you be posting a review/report of your trip?
