Car hire on Corsica

Can anyone recommend a budget car hire company on Corsica? I am looking to hire the cheapest thing I can as there are just the two of us so size is not an issue.

I%26#39;m finding that most websites I%26#39;m getting quotes from are quoting about £250 per week which I%26#39;m completely amazed by. I expected to pay that for two weeks!

Am I being unrealistic or are there bargains out there ?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I just booked a car with Corsica-isula car hire which uses AutoEurope (31 Aug, from Bastia, for a fortnight). I just checked with them and the weekly rate for a Megane on the same date is 189 UK Pounds. The next cheapest I got was an Opel Corsa with Holiday Autos which was 238 UK Pounds for a week.

With AutoEurope and Holiday Autos, you get the hire much cheaper but you still end up getting your car from one of the big boys like Hertz or Europcar, so I reckon it%26#39;s worth doing.

I%26#39;d be interested to hear if anyone finds anything cheaper.

Good Luck!

Great. Thanks very much. I%26#39;ll have a look. Will advise if I find any other decent deals as our hire will cover exactly the same period as yours by the look of it!

We have booked one weeks car hire with Hertz, Peugeot 207 or similar with air con, inc. collision damage waiver %26amp; theft protection for £150.00, colection from Calvi airport mid September. Assume prices go down a bit mid September ??

Following PM from thesunworshipper, my husband booked the Hertz car as mentioned above through travelsupermarket.com about 2 weeks ago, not sure if he was just lucky to get this price or it is a low season price.

The excitement of getting a cheap car is however offset by the prices of the flights to Calvi which are still sky high !

Having tried all companies suggested here and found none to be cheaper than £450 for 2 weeks (maybe due to the period required - 30 August to 13 September - and/or pick up/drop-off location - Ajaccio Airport) finally alighted on Alamo by accident and managed to get a deal for 500 Euros for the 2 weeks.

To answer my own original question, I was being unrealistic!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now, about that Corsican sunshine . . . . !

The postscript to this topic is that, on arriving at Ajaccio Airport and collecting the car from Alamo we were only charged 410 Euros for the two week hire - Sure, it was only a 1.0 Citroen but it did have air-con and suited our purposes not to mention budget.

Worth a look!

Its probably a bit late now but we got a hire car from Europcar in Bastia from Monday 1st September til Friday 12th September for £225.

It was a Golf TDI 1.9 with only 2000 km.

That sounds a great deal - did you book it online in the UK ?

We ended up paying £160 for a weeks hire of a Citroen C3 at Bastia airport via holiday autos booked online in the UK in September.
