My husband has work meetings in Paris on Feb. 25 - 26th and I (of course) am planning to tag along. This will be my 2nd trip to Paris and my husband%26#39;s first. We are looking for a possible %26quot;other destination%26quot; for the first part of our 9 day trip. And, we think we should save the south of France for a summer trip. What do people think about flying into Brussels? Zurich? Other ideas? We would do 3 days at our first destination to get over jet lag and then we would like to be within a 3 - 4 hour train ride from Paris and spend the rest of our 9 days there. Thank you in advance!!

Brussels would work but I wouldn%26#39;t give it three days - I would suggest one day in Brussels itself (not that much to see, outside the central old square), and then a day in Bruges (only about 45 minutes by train and very easy), then straight into Paris from Brussels (many trains, takes two hours or less from there). Take a look at the TA forums for Bruges and Brussels to help make up your mind.
About other parts of France - I would agree that Provence is better seen in summer, but the Loire and Dordogne (and many other areas) would be lovely even in winter, plus would be completely uncrowded (something you definitely could not expect in summer!)
Have fun with the planning and enjoy the trip!

You can go to Brussels and then take a a side trip to Bruges. Or you can go to Amsterdam. Many places in south of France, Provence, Dordogne are closed during winter months and you are wise not to choose to go there in February.
