Desperate need to decide - Louvre or Marais?

My husband and I are going to be in Paris for a week in July. We contacted Vladimir from Residences-Paris about the apartment %26quot;La Residence Rousseau%26quot; (Louvre area) and %26quot;Residence Comte de Poitou%26quot; (Marais area).

Which area is a better choice? Can anyone tell us whether you%26#39;ve used this company before? Is there anyone who%26#39;ve rented these place?

Thanks so much!

We desperately need someone to help us out. We%26#39;ll have to make a decision in the next few hours on our apartment rental, but would really like someone to tell us about Residence Paris. Hopefully, this will bum it up on the top again.

Thanks!

I am going to vote for the Louvre area apartment. It is closer to a variety of metro stations which gives you alot more transportation options. The other one is on the very north edge of the Marais. Its a nice area but much more limited for transportation.

As long as there is a metro within a few blocks of either place, I don%26#39;t think it matters at all. Just pick the one you like the best for whatever your reasons are.

I stayed in the 20th arrondissement for a month last September and what I learned is that the Metro is so fast and convenient that it doesn%26#39;t really matter where you stay in Paris.

Don%26#39;t fret about it. Just pick and be done. You will have a great trip either way.

Thanks so much for the replies. Is Air Conditioning an important factor for July? We%26#39;re not really used to the heat and don%26#39;t really have humid summers. We were in Rome last year during July and were thankful for our AC. Should we be choosing the apartment with the AC?

Thanks again.

Hmm...my husband just found this place. any suggestions here?

I have read many entries on this site about being sure to get AC in the summer. You never know for sure if you will need it because Paris weather is changeable. However, it seems to have made the different for a number of people whether the quality of their trip was affected or not.

I haven%26#39;t stayed in any of these apartments so I really don%26#39;t have personal experiences with them. I like the looks of the Rousseau apartment the best but I didn%26#39;t see the whole video so I don%26#39;t know what the kitchen area looked like. I didn%26#39;t take the time to notice which place has the AC. Also, the newest apartment you listed has a washing machine. Is that something you care about?

Just look at all the options available and figure out what your priorities are. Then pick. The truth is, you probably will spend very little time there other than to sleep and perhaps an hour or two to relax every once in a while.

Perhaps there is someone who has rented from this company and can tell you what they are like to deal with. You can always bump this thread to the top to get more information. Good luck and have fun in Paris.

I think the summer is a lovely time to be in Paris. The flowers are in bloom! There are also lots of festivals in Paris in the summer. Check them out.

Rousseau over Comte e Poitou if there is not much differnce in price as the second looks %26#39;pokey%26#39; even for two people.

A/C really should not be an issue - if it was that desperate a need in Paris the French would have it by now like they do in Florida, NYC, the South and other places that really need it.

If you are near a metro you will be fine. All look OK in terms of location.

July is a high season month so getting something booked should be your priority.

I don%26#39;t know any of the companies unfortunately - can any provide you with previous guest reviews. Didn%26#39;t notice if that was a link on any of the sites?

If this doesn%26#39;t cause you more aggravation all of the following have been recommended in the past week or so

The reason I think it does matter is because when you are limited to one metro line you almost always have to change once or twice to get anywhere. If you have multiple lines near your location it reduces the need to change lines vastly which cuts transportation times in half and gives you the feeling that you generally have easy access to a variety of areas.

If you only have one line you would hope that it would be one of the major lines that take you to the tourist areas, the 8 is not one of those lines unfortunately.

As far as AC is concerned thats a choice you have to make. I have lived in Paris for 7 years without AC and usually only have a couple of weeks out of the year that I would use it if I had it minus the heat wave year which I would have given my left arm for AC. Just depends on if you dont mind a bit of heat, typically Paris cools down at night but not always.

I would just like to second what MorganB just wrote about métro lines and A/C.
