Myself and 9 friends are travelling to Paris in early October for a weekend of sightseeing and horse racing (Prix de L%26#39;Arc de Triomphe). We are staying in the 7th and have booked a table on the Friday evening at La Fontaine de Mars. I have looked extensively on TA in respect of other restaurants to eat at on our remaining two evenings (there are a lot....!!) but seem to have settled on Le Florimond and Le Petit Troquet.
As there are 9 of us, would it be advisable to pre-book our table and does anyone else have any other recommendations?
I would be grateful if anyone can advise the best river boat (Les Vedettes Du Pont-Neuf?) and open top bus company (this seems to be the best way to get around the major attractions when we may be short of time)?
Finally - Versaille - some of us are not going to the races on the Sunday but would like to visit Versaille. Is it advisable to pre-book an organised trip or go it alone? If so, is transport to Versaille easily available?
I apologise for the number of queries, but would be grateful for any advice.

Le P%26#39;tit Troquet is lovely, but it%26#39;s very small. You absolutely would need reservations for a group that large.

With a group of your size, reservations anywhere would be a must. You might consider dining at Le Bistro de Breteuil in the 7th. There%26#39;s a set menu with a kir apéritif, quite a few choices for each course, a half-bottle bottle of wine for each person, and after-dinner coffee, all at one price.
If the evening is mild, ask for a table on the terrace.

Versailles is easy to get to - take the RER (C5 line). There is an all-inclusive ticket which includes the train and admission to all of the different venues at Versailles. You can purchase at the RER/SNCF the day you go. If you go on the weekend it costs 25 EUR. I highly recommending purchasing your tickets before you go. The ticket lines at Versailles were ridiculous. Have fun!

For a group of 9, a reservation is absolutely necessary. Especially on a week-end, if you are more than 4 you must make a reservation unless you don%26#39;t mind eating at different times, and perhaps in different restaurants.
Wouldn%26#39;t you make a reservation for a group this size at home?

Le Florimond is tiny, you should book. Enjoy your evening, it%26#39;s a really great place.

Thank you everyone for your advice, it is much appreciated

You can also go to la Chaumiere. it is in the 15th adjoining the 7th. They can put tables together and it is a charming restaurant with delicious desserts.
Metro is Boucicault and address is Felix Faure.
