Hi
We are looking to book a long weekend in February / March 2009.
We have seen 2 hotels that seem good value - the Mercure Montparnasse or the Comfort Inn Mouffetard.
Which area can be recommended for safety / good nightlife / location %26amp; accessibility etc.
Many thanks
Steve

I would go closer to the Seine. More fun. We stayed at a small 2 star hotel on rue de Seine, and it was great. Nightlife going on to the wee hours.

Hi,
Don%26#39;t hesitate! The best place in Paris is Saint Germain (near Moufetard).
(I live in Paris since 20 years)

Just off the rue Moufftard is the rue Pot de Fer which must have six or eight good restaurants up one side and down the other. You could eat at one each night and not leave the area. You would also be close to the Place Contrascarpe which is a four sided area with a nice cafe on three of the sides. It always struck me as a place where the students go to have an inexpensive drink and to watch a few street preformers. Noisy but not obnoxious.

Hi Dai47 I stayed at the Mercure and loved it. The hotel is right in the middle of the action. You can hop on a bus, train or metro right out front. There is plenty of places to shop and eat. The hotel was very nice, they just did a over-haul and our room was brand spanking new. And the breakfast provided was really nice and the view is great. The breakfast room is on the third floor overlooking the street. I noticed they have great special rates at the hotel. As for safety, we had no problems. And I was traveling with large group of students.

I would suggest staying in the Latin Quarter - more central to the main tourist sights, nicer atmosphere and a great choice of restaurants, cafés and bars.
Bon séjour!
