$AU down to €0.56

Just about to send off the deposit for our apartment for our next trip to Paris and the Aussie hits €0.56.

And it had been sitting at a much more respectable €0.60 for most of the year.

Come on, little pacific peso - you can do better than that!

|||

Its worse for New Zealanders.....not fair is it? LOL

|||

And when I changed my Aussie dollars into Euro last week for our trip to Paris starting Sunday, I only received a rate of 55 Euro from my money.

Quelle horreur!

And it may get even worse!

|||

Ouch! And, to top it all off, we Antipodeans have to sit on a plane for 20+ hours to get there.

Rila: I guess the upside is that we%26#39;re going to Paris and, no matter how bad the exchange rate is, it%26#39;s beter than not going to Paris. The Visa card will just have to cope.

Enjoy your trip....

Now I have to plan my trip with the budget base on 1A$ = .50E. The small change I %26#39;ll count as the bonus then :D

|||

EllaDexter you%26#39;re right!

Let%26#39;s forget all the monetary problems of the world for the moment and let%26#39;s make the most of our time in one of the world%26#39;s most beautiful cities.

|||

Yeah the Visa card will just have to cope.Lol

Have a great time everybody, I%26#39;m heading to Paris in a couple of months.

|||

Yeah, I am soooo glad that I decided to pay the whole lot for our apartment up front a few months back when the exchange rate was really good - just to avoid two lots of bank charges. The bummer is I now have to pay the balance on our canal boat hire. I%26#39;ve been holding off hoping things would get better but they just seem to be getting worse.

One thing we discovered last year, however, in Paris is that we got a much better rate of exchange by changing our money over there - but the differences between the various currency exchange places can be quite significant so it%26#39;s worth checking out a few and when you find one that offers an attractive rate then change quite a bit of money.

As everybody has said, though, Paris is just so fabulous that the difference in the dollar%26#39;s rate isn%26#39;t enough to dull the smiles.

Cheers ...

I%26#39;m a really sad person. I leave on Sunday morning and have been holding out all week in case there was a miraculous rise in the dollar. Don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s going to happen, so I%26#39;d better change it tomorrow. There%26#39;s no price on fabulous travel experiences!!

Happy tripping all.

No doubt about us Aussies, we travel no matter what happens in the world even our currency in free fall.

I always get our money on arrival in the country I am travelling to from an ATM - use a credit card ATM card so only costs us $1.50 in charges against the $5 of the banks.

Noticed an improvement against the euro on Friday so worth waiting. Lucky for us for our forthcoming trip we had paid everything back when we were at the record rates - have to be lucky sometime I guess.

Also lucky we have a daughter and family living in England to help with those accommodation costs and as well allows us to pick up those cheap deals out of England to Europe that we don%26#39;t seem to get in Aus.

barkem - yes, it%26#39;s back to almost €0.58. Seeing as it got down to €0.55, this is reason to be dancing in the streets (with a budget, domestic bubbly).

Come on, pacific peso!!!

BrissieKJ: hope you have a fantastice time and the $AUD soars to record heights, just when each of your credit card transactions are processed!
