Hi,
Myself and 8 girlfriends are planning to visit Paris for the first time for a 28th Birthday. None of us have ever been and just need some advise on where the best to stay is. A nice reasonable price hotel which is close to the attractions and nightlife. Any other advise would be very much appreaciated.
Thanks in advance.

NINE of you live within 2.5 hours by train, or 1.5 hour by plane from Paris and none of you have been!!! I find this amazing, I live on an island off the west coast of Canada, and most everyone I know expects to travel a day to two by car for holidays,, three hours away is like a day trip to us,,
Sorry off topic, but I have been on the boards so long now, I truly find it surprising that so many Brits are travelling to Paris for their first time ,, and they are well past childhood. I know that Spain and Portugual are very popular with those from the UK,, inexpensive and close also,, do you think thats where most British like to go?? Or do they prefer to holiday closer to home as a rule??
Anyways, back ontopic. For younger folks, and a more lively area, I would choose the Latin Quarter( 5th) or the Marais( 4th) .
Is birthday soon? It may be tricky finding a hotel with 4 rooms at this late date,, Sept-October busy months for fashion and trade shows.
What is actual budget?? 100 euros per night, 150 , 200?

Stay close to Seine and Louvre and bus/metro system - which happens to be there

La Reserve is the best play to stay in Paris. Check the TA reviews in the upper left hand box. The butler is ala carte. If it is a little out of your budget maybe a hint as to what your budget is would be helpful.
We personaly prefer the Marais area, but La Reserve is simply the best.

I agree, your price range would be helpful.

In reply to your question, Joan, many Brits%26#39; first holiday abroad is likely to be to Spain or somewhere else in the Mediterranean. It%26#39;s all about sunshine, I suppose. Don%26#39;t forget that it%26#39;s only South East England that%26#39;s near to France, so most people are going to have to take a plane anyway, and for an hour extra flying time they can go to sunnier climes that offer far cheaper packages. Actually, British people travel abroad more than other Europeans (as people in North America must know) with the French being the most stay-at-home. If the statistics are to be believed, far more British people visit Paris than French people visit London.

I have visited London once and enjoyed it. I might visit again eventually, but it%26#39;s not at the top of my list. I have visited Paris three times and look forward to visiting it again as many times as I can afford it.
That%26#39;s my vote. As far as where the young folks should stay, I agree it%26#39;s the 4th or 5th. You%26#39;ll have a ball.
