You could probably manage a flying visit to Cannes, Nice and Monaco but I wouldn%26#39;t try fitting in Marseilles even on a 2 city visit due to the travelling times -you would be wasting at least 5 hours just in travel.

If you visit before the end of September you could get a special Carte Isabelle [12 Euros] for the local trains and do Cannes in the morning and Monaco in the afternoon [or vice versa] and do a flying visit round Nice on the half day.

If you just want to do two places- go to Nice for the full day and Monaco for the half day

Forget about Marseilles, too far away. Keep a day in Nice (see itineraries I previousluy suggested) and a half day in Eze sur Mer and the other half in Monaco.

thanks for all replies.

i viewed the Eze it was wonderful.

you mean that dont go to marseille. previously nice and monaco. is cannes good to see or its only impressive about film festival:).

im gonna already have a global pass train ticket. its not problem to travel between.

see you

Marseilles is about 3 hrs from Nice by train, that means 6 hrs return. Almost a whole day and you only have 1.5 day. Not conveninet.

|||

if you only have 1.5 days you don%26#39;t have enough time to fit in Marseilles as well

It doesn%26#39;t look far away on a map of France but it is a considerable distance

Where will you be visiting the south of France from? will you be travelling from somewhere else by train or flying in to Nice?

|||

im gonna have an interrail train ticket to travel some european countries. im planning from Rome to Monaco, a few hours to Monaco and then going to Eze visiting a few hours and probably that night going and staying at Nice. other day visiting to Nice, a city trip, walking near the beach and i think there is a castle or something like that , and walking deep inside to city on whole day. probably i cant fit this to 1,5 day, so it would be 2 days. also i may cancel some italian destination because i really like of the sea, history and green. and from Nice to Paris by train.

The monaco to Eze bit you will need to do partly by bus because the train only goes to Eze bord de mer not Eze village. Eze bord de mer isn%26#39;t really worth visiting [even though Bono and other u2 folk have houses there] and the walk from there to Eze village is long and steep.

You can get bus number 83 from eze bord de mer to eze village

Then on the way back it would be easiest to go from Eze village to Nice by bus 82 or 112

bus 82

bus 112

The castle in Nice is just a ruin of low walls on top of colline de chateau. There also is a cemetery and an artificial waterfall there.

However there is a sort of castle called Mont Alban and personally I would go there as the Nomt Boron and Mont Alban hill is higher and the spectacular views are of villefranche bay on one side and Nice port and Bauie des Anges on the other

you take bus number 14 to Mont Boron then there is a lovely walk around the headland and to the castle which dates to 1560 [You can%26#39;t get into the castle but its in good repair and an interesting building]

thanks fro castle info.

well is Cannes a necessary to visit?

|||

You don%26#39;t have much time - i wouldn%26#39;t bother going to Cannes

You could, however , break your journey in Marseilles for a couple of hours when you are on the way to Paris. You need to go via Marseilles anyway on the train route
