Hi
We (a family of four) will be arriving in Bastia from Nice off the ferry on a Sunday evening in late October and need to get to Calvi where we are staying for the week. We then have to repeat the trick in the opposite direction to catch an early morning ferry the following Saturday.
As it is out of season and a Sunday AND we are arriving out of hours, it appears that hiring a car in the town isn%26#39;t possible (and we would prefer not to anyway having got that far by train and ferry).
Is there a taxi company that anyone knows that we could contact, (preferably by e-mail to cover our less than perfect French) to pick us up from the Port and take us to Calvi?
And any idea on likely cost? I%26#39;m expecting it to be a lot but the alternatives of hiring a car or spending a night in Bastia at either end of the holiday won%26#39;t be cheap either so I%26#39;m not too bothered.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

This website allows you to calculate the cost based on local regulations dated Jan. 2007. Bastia to Calvi on a Sunday would be FROM 264 euros not counting a 4th adult or suitcases.

Unfortunately there%26#39;s no email address. You would need to check the price and probably reserve in advance.

Wow! Thanks for this. A hotel in Bastia is suddenly starting to look pretty good value...

or maybe Plan C -hiring a car in Bastia?
Does anyone know of any car hire companies in Bastia town that are likely to consider a car pick up late on a Sunday evening (about 8pm as the Ferry arrives 7.30pm) and a drop-off about 7 am on a Saturday (for an 8 am ferry departure)?
As before -any help will be much appreciated

We flew to Bastia a week or so ago and drove the Bastia to Calvi route which, subject to traffic and weather, takes about 1 1/2 hrs - 1 3/4 hrs, so a very long taxi ride.
We had originally planned to fly to Calvi but couldn%26#39;t get a flight so ended up having to fly to Bastia. We booked a hire car online from holiday autos and the car came from the National Citer France office at the airport which is open in September from 9.30 am - 11.30 pm, not sure what hours they will be open in October. You would of course have to get a taxi from the ferry terminal to the airport at Poretta. The telephone number of National Citer at the airport is 00 33 495 360785 - it may be worth phoning them (they speak very good English) to ask what advice they may have.
