140 Rue du Bac - Sisters of Charity

Does anyone know if there is a website with information about this Catholic convent? I am especially interested in times of Mass that the public could attend.

Hi. I found a website that appears to be what you want, via a Google map of 140, rue du Bac.

There is mention of the chapel as the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity on the website, but on the Welcome page there is also a schedule of masses.

Hope this is what you needed.

and the shrine of Sainte Catherine Labouré has a particular significance to devout Catholics...as the site of Catherine Labouré%26#39;s visitations by the Blessed Virgin Mary and its connection to the %26#39;..Miraculous Medal..%26#39;.

I%26#39;m not an especially devout Catholic, but I%26#39;ve brought back Miraculous Medals, blessed by the priests-in-residence at the chapel, for all of my nieces and nephews (whose parents were much more devout than I ever was). I%26#39;m pleased to note that ALL of them either wear or carry their medals with them.

If you go to visit the site, pay particular attention to the Schedules for BOTH Masses and Openning...they aren%26#39;t necessarily the same things.

Thanks so much! Last Christmas, my husband gave me a miraculous medal. After learning all the story of this appearance of Mary, I am very interested to go and visit the place it took place, right in the middle of Paris!

I%26#39;m not sure what an opening is as compared to times of Mass. But I do plan to get some of the medals for friends and family back home. It did get its name due to the large amount of miracles that happened for people who wore the medal. I hope so!

Opening means when the chapel opens the doors.

Masses - the times are given:

Daily: 8am, 10:30am, 12:30pm

Tues: also 4pm, 6:30pm

Sat: also 5:15pm

Sun: 7:30am, 10am, 11:15am

In the same immediate neighborhood is also JARDIN CATHERINE LABOURÉ at 29 rue de Babylone (enter through a gate in the long stone wall) behind the convent. This space was once part of the convent precinct but is now open to the public.

Also nearby is a surprising little garden space, SQUARE CHAISE RÉCAMIER, tucked back in at the end of the nondescript rue de Récamier (where rue des Saints Pères branches off of rue de Sévres). This is a little neighborhood park is an %26#39;secret garden%26#39; of tranquility in the middle of the neighborhood%26#39;s bustle. People are always asking about %26#39;..off the beaten path..%26#39; and %26#39;hidden gems%26#39;...well this is one of %26#39;em.

On a less devout note, one of Paris%26#39; %26#39;grand magazins%26#39;--LE BON MARCHÉ--is located a couple of blocks away...and as a woman, I doubt that Mary would mind if you included this along your pilgrimage route. You might find a sandal sale in progress. Now that would be truly miraculous.

Ha! I had read that there was a huge store very close to the convent. We will almost surely go in and have a look around.

Also, thanks for the off the beaten path information. They sound quite peaceful and maybe a good place to stop and rest and eat???
