Ballet

Will be in Paris the first week in November...does Paris have a classical ballet company? The theater search showed only opera.

Many Thanks,

NYC Lady

If you look at this website: www.operadeparis.fr, click on Saisons 2008-2009 and then click on ballet you will find the list of ballets for this season. We will be in Paris the first week of November and reserved tickets to see Les Enfants du Paradis. We have already received the tickets. Being a balletomine, I am looking forward to this evening but have not been able to find out much about the ballet itself except it seems that the choreographer is young and new. I just decided that being at the ballet will be enough for me!

If you want to reserve tickets online, there is still plenty of time for them to send the tickets to you. Of course, this depends on the seats available.

In the past we have seen 2 performances of the %26quot;Young Company%26quot; at the Opera Garnier and what they lacked in technique they made up for in enthusiasm and energy. One ballet we saw was La Fille de Ma Gardee and it was wonderful.I assume this company is made up of the senior members at the Opera School of Ballet. In fact, we much preferred them to the professional ballet company we saw in Russia this past summer.

It all depends on what is available at the time but whatever ballet it is, to me it is well worth the chance.

Hello Quincy-Marie,

Many thanks for your response. The information is much appreciated.

Just as soon as I posted this query, I did a search on the Paris forum on this site and discovered an old post recommending the website as you described. Through that website, I found the info on the les%26#39;enfants du paradise.

We are actually sending friends for a very special trip (to Burgundy, Champagne and Paris for a celebration of many events...wish we could be joining them!),and today, I remembered that I introduced her to ballet and that is something that she really enjoys (while her husband is the gourmand/oenophile)...so thought she might enjoy going.

Agree with you...we were a bit disappointed with the ballet (and opera) in Russia a few years back.

Will most likely ask the travel agent to book tickets.

Have a wonderful time!

Thank you! I am really curious to know what this ballet is about. Hope it is not too too contemporary but still, just to be in the building will be a treat.
