Hi all,
We are in Paris from 2nd-6th Oct and planning a day trip to Versailles on a weekend. We stay at Hotel Apollon (Montparnasse). Now, I hv figured out the pass which I need to buy -%26quot;Forfait Loisirs Chateau Versailles%26quot;. And I visited
transilien.com/web/…en
In the How does it work? section see this-
• the concerned days, at the Grandes Eaux Musicales show.
Can someone explain what this means? Also Montparnasse comes under which zone?
We would like to stay there for the evening fountain show - so this requires the entrance ticket to the garden + the show ticket? I am terribly lost here.
If we plan to stay late for the show is it ok if we reach Versailles at abut 2-3 pm?
Thanks!

Ok! I found out that the evening show is off in Oct. And instead the show is from 3:30 - 5:30. Entrance on weekdays to the garden is free but on weekends its 9 Euros does this include the show?
Am I dumb?

Yes it does, but if you have the forfait loisirs pass the gardens are included, everything is included with that pass (even audio phones) except riding the tram or renting a golf cart.

When you purchase the Forfait Loisirs there are two prices for it,, 21.65 for weekdays( no fountain show) or 28 euros ( aprox. I think) for weekend days( includes fountain show) .
I should warn you,, the %26quot;fountains show%26quot;, is well, not a show at all really. They just turn the fountains on during certain intervals ,, and blast some classical music from speakers through out the upper gardens where the fountains are.You then sort of run around and take photos of the foutains. lol
I saw the %26quot; fountain show%26quot; a few years ago , for the first time( I had been to Versailles at least 3 times before that) and frankly, yes , the fountains are beautiful,, but, I wouldn%26#39;t knock myself out to see them again, and deal with the weekend crowds. Now, you are going in October, so I am guessing the crowds will not be half as bad.
Don%26#39;t go too late in day, it gets dark early remember, and seeing the grounds in the dark isn%26#39;t much fun,, if they are even open in the dark.
You MUST make it out to Marie Antionettes Hameau( farm) ,, and the Petit Trianon( which apparently has just finished the renos it had going on this summer when I went) and Marie Antionettes little playhouse( theater) , fascinating.. Leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy Versailles, the people who don%26#39;t really enjoy it seem to be the ones that miss alot of stuff because they are in a rush.

Before the website went down (and still is down), I read that the last weekend for the Grandes Eaux Musicales is this weekend 27-28th.
you can try to reach the site:

Agree with other posters, we went specifically on a Sunday to see the %26quot;fountain show%26quot; then were too pooped after touring the palace and the e-n-d-l-e-s-s- walk to the hamlet...then found the gardens closed for the musical show (didn%26#39;t want to buy another ticket) so we did our half-day at the Big V and took the train back. Nice visit, though.
