Help-rates are comparable for triple-both look like in same area-the St-Jacques looks nicer? Which one is the better hotel with location and rooms? Thanks, for any input! D

The St. Jacques is nicer. HDCDF is slightly better located. If you are looking for a lower priced alternative at an even better location, try the Hotel St Pierre: http://www.saintpierre-hotel.com/

We stayed at Hotel-St-Jacques last year and found it to be mediocre. The staff was not helpful and rooms were very cramped and worn. The neighborhood and location were good. I think you would be better off somewhere else.

Thanks for the comments, do you have any idea where a better location would be? Thanks again, D

Pixfield, that hotel Saint Pierre looks great, so cheap,, and in such a good location. Have you stayed there? I am wondering about the noise ( I am a lightsleeper). I have stayed right on Boulevard St Michel, and due to excellant windows have heard no noise, I have also stayed om much quieter streets and had big noise problems because of poor windows.
Those are great rates too, with a/c no less, great find.

BOTH the HÔTEL SAINT JACQUES and the HÔTEL du COLLÈGE de FRANCE are solid Parisian 2-stars. Of the two, the Hotel du Collège de France will have the more convenient location....the Hotel Saint Jacques a quieter location.

Joan,
Two of my dear friends stayed there and I visited them in their room while they were there. It is a great location. Rooms are smallish and have never been seen by an interior decorator. However, the price is right and it is a couple blocks off Blvd St Germian and Blvd St Michel, so it is not too noisy. Not all rooms have A/C.
The best part of all is that the la Pâtisserie Viennoise is right downstairs: …blogspot.com/2007/05/la-ptisserie-viennoise…

Stayed at Hotel Collège de France last year and the staff was very nice, location can%26#39;t be beat if you like the St-Germain/Quartier Latin area. Ask for room 603, on top floor. Very nice view and you have a small balcony.
