Could anyone provide information regarding Nuit Blanch 2008? As far as I can figure out, it will be October 4, however the information I%26#39;ve been able to find is in French. I just read about it in a guidebook, and realized I%26#39;ll be in Paris then. Thanks...

Yes, it is the night of 4 October. The theme is centered around the train stations Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon and certain of the churches. This link describes some of the main events, but there will be hundreds of others also.

In case anyone is wondering, %26quot;Nuit Blanche%26quot; means %26quot;Sleepless Night%26quot; (because the entertainment starts at 7 in the evening and goes on until 7 in the morning).

Thank you very much for that link, however when I click on %26quot;English%26quot;, it takes me away from that page, and eventually to a more general description of Nuit Blanche that doesn%26#39;t fully explain the activities for this year. I had found that site before, but can%26#39;t read French well enough to really understand it. I must be doing something incorrectly. I%26#39;ll keep working on it. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

I went to La Nuit Blanche last year. We didn%26#39;t see anything which was particularly wow except all the fire pots lining the path in the tuileries. Lots of the buildings were open free of charge and we went into the Petit and Grand Palais and looked around.
What is so much fun is all the people. Everyone was in good spirits and just seeing whatever it is that you see where ever you happen to be.

Thanks! It%26#39;s just an unexpected little treat that I didn%26#39;t even know about before I saw it in the guidebook. This is our second time to Paris (went in March 2007), so we%26#39;re hoping to experience previous favorites, and new adventures. Definitely sounds interesting and we%26#39;re fortunate that we%26#39;ll have the opportunity to experience the spectacle.

Mich-yes, that website does not have a ton of info on it, even in French. I am hoping there will be more as the day gets closer. It looks like the websites for previous years have more information on them.
I%26#39;d really like a list of which museums and sites will be open late that night and free!

I remember last year it was difficult to find the specifics for that year%26#39;s Nuit Blanche. It probably was on line but I never did find it. So we just followed the people.
If Hotel de Ville is open that evening, I suggest that you go in there. People aren%26#39;t allowed to sightsee there unless you enter for a temporary exhibit or you are part of a tour which you make advance reservations for (and it is all in French). The building is beautiful on the inside as well as beautiful on the outside. Since it usually is not an option available to tourists, I%26#39;d say grab the chance. I know that it has been open on some of the Nuit Blanches.

I read Patti Smith is performing in the Saint Germain des Pres church, but it doesn%26#39;t indicate what time the performance is. I%26#39;ll be in Paris on the 4th and staying pretty close by so I think I%26#39;ll check it out and see what happens.

I appreciate your information! Please keep me in mind if you hear/read any more about the event. I%26#39;ve been trying to do some searches but haven%26#39;t had much success.

I have also discovered that Nuit Blanche occurs during my trip to Paris in October! I found bits and pieces of info by doing Google searches--but info does seem pretty sparse. However, someone on TA mentioned %26quot;Zurban%26quot; in connection with Nuit Blanche so I will look for that publication when I get to Paris.
Sounds like great fun!
