just looking at the Metro/RER map - Arriving at CDG
two questions....
would it be best to transfer to metro line 4 at Gare DuNord or further down? we are staying on Rue duBac. Wondering which would be the easiest and quickest way ... It appears that taking line 4 to St Germein is the closest way using only two trains or is there an easier way to get onto Line 12 which is where the Ru duBac station is...

You could take the Air France coach to Gare Montparnasse, then Metro Line 12 to rue du Bac stop.
Or you could leave the RER at Gare du Nord, walk out the front for a block or so to Bus #39 to its rue du Bac stop.

...or RER to St Michel, then a taxi to rue du Bac....

I%26#39;m a huge fan of the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne transfer from CDG...but nearly as big a fan of rolling luggage through the regular Metro system. The only way to RUE du BAC with the fewest train changes en route is to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to GARE du NORD and then transfer to the #4 Metro ligne (heading in the direction of Porte de Clignancourt) to MARCADET-POISSONIERE...then switch over to the #12 Metro ligne (heading in the direction of Mairie d%26#39;Issy). It seems the long way %26#39;round...but it will have the shortest Correspondances, fewest and easiest transfers.
A better choice might be to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME...then TAXI PARISIAN from there to your destination on rue du Bac.
Our own personal preference is RER %26#39;B%26#39; to GARE du NORD...then up into the main station...purcahse museum passes, stop at a news kiosk for a copy of PARISCOPE and yet another copy of PARIS par ARRONDISSENTNT...then Taxi Parisian from the regular taxi rank %26#39;cross town (the usuual route will take your through the arched wings of the Louvre and across the Seine at Pont du Carousel) to the upper-6eme. It%26#39;s not the most cost-efficient use of the system...but it makes for a great mini-tour across Paris.

KDKSAIL I like your idea of getting off at GareDuNord and buying all the things we need like carnets and museum passes etc then taxi to Rue DuBac ..we are arriving around 6:30 pm on a weeknight so presume the traffic won%26#39;t be all that bad for a taxi heading to rue DuBac...?
Any other suggestions will be gratefully received and considered... we are not %26quot;backpacking%26quot; happy to pay money for a taxi if it negates hauling luggage too far but also happy to use metro/RER if it is more efficient
