My family are coming to Tignes in March 09 - staying in a chalet in Tignes Le Lac. When do we need to think about booking our 3 year old into Les Marmottons (or similar). Any recommendatiosn or advice on alternatives?

Hi,
Sooner the better really - If you were going in February then I%26#39;d urge you to call now, but March isn%26#39;t quite so bad being outside the major school holidays.
Most of my knowledge on this comes via my wife - her research can be found here - tignesie-tots.com/ContactFiles/SkiSchools.as… - I think with a 3 year old you%26#39;re probably restricted to Marmottons or a private lesson. I forget if there%26#39;s a Marmottons at Val Claret as well as Le Lac, but make sure you specify Le Lac when booking just to be safe.
I rate Marmottons pretty highly having had my 4 year old nephew do mornings last season. It%26#39;s quite French - they%26#39;re all French instructors (or were last year) and they all sing a French song at the medal ceremony on the Friday with mostly French commentary, although they do have a bit of commentary in English as well, but the instruction was good and the instructors were very patient and set the groups and lessons at what I felt was the right level for the physical and emotional level of the children. You still see screaming children with dummies and teddies being dropped off at 9am every morning which is a bit wrenching, but it worked for my nephew. I personally think full days are too much for really young children to handle, but that%26#39;s just my opinion.
There are some private options if you follow the link I provided, and there%26#39;s also a Scicilian lady who works for ESF and comes highly recommended for teaching children - I just can%26#39;t for the life of me remember her name right now! I%26#39;ll look it up and add it to this thread.
Hope this helps!

Thanks - that really does help. We agree about the half day thing - it%26#39;ll be half days we book. It looks fun, and our 3 year old is used to nursery, so hopefully all will be well.

Oh, and the other woman%26#39;s name is Titziana who I think still works for ESF.
Cheers,
Matt
